Paklap brings you a
review of the in-demand product that Dell has launched, the Dell Precision
7510.
Dell Precision is a mobile company’s workstation that is the
workhorse of a business center. It houses a 6th generation
microprocessor with either Intel Core i5 or Core i7 and the Xeon Processor.
These microprocessors behave as power providers for doing any kind of task
virtually. Coupled with a 64 GB of DDR4-2133 MHz RAM, this gives an excellent
performance for the task it is assigned to do. Equipped with some brilliantly
cooling systems, they send a message that they are designed to work hard.
Dell has shown rigidity in changing the outlook of the device
and has maintained its traditional, plain, business-like look. It sports a
slick looking chassis that utilizes excellent quality of material that have
been chosen using MIL-STD 810G testing.
Having an Intel Xeon E3-1535M v5 CPU, NVIDIA Quadro M2000m
GPU with a 32 GB DDR4 RAM and a 512 GB Samsung NVMe SSD along with a crisp 4k
display, there isn’t much left that this device doesn’t have. Keeping in mind
the configuration it offers, this laptop is priced around $3,267.
Dell has worked on getting a lighter, thinner yet stronger
body made out of carbon and magnesium that would increase the device’s
durability. The keyboard it offers is lifted from a previous model E7x50 and
the palmrest from another model E7x40. It is safe to conclude that this device
is a mixture of both the laptops. The super solid gives a softer touch from the
outside while the base rests on its rubber feet. It offers two hinges that help
rotate the screen at different angles while working. Keeping in mind of other
laptops offered in such range, this laptop is a bit heavier and a big larger in
size. These details are exclusively designed and maintained throughout every
model in similar generation of laptop Dell offers.
The ports installed in these models are quiet similar to the
previous models. Four 3.0 USB ports line either side of the laptop. An HDMI
port, a mini-Display Port and a docking port are still present in this model.
Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8620 provides connectivity to
this device. A Bluetooth 4.1 is also installed so sharing files becomes easy. An
Ethernet port is also located at the back of the device along with a SIM slot.
The webcam is outdated as it still offers a 720 pixel resolution with noise and
a poor low light performance.
The keyboard that Precision offers is known to be the best
in the industry! This model has wide spaced buttons and a numeric keypad has
been added.
The touch pad is quiet similar to another laptop, Latitude
E7450. It is quiet sensitive and is pretty precise in interpretation. There are
two touch pad buttons that are still there as existing in the previous models.
Dell Precision 7510 has a wide 15.6 inch screen display
having 4 display options. They range between 1920 x 1080 Standard LED TN Panel.
The brightness that this laptop has is a bit below average. In the sunlight,
the screen’s brightness dulls to a greater extent, making it close to
impossible to work outside the house.
There are a total of seven different CPUs, three different
GPUs, a 16 to 64 GB RAM and a wide range of storage options to choose
from. Intel Xeon E3-1535M v CPU and
NVIDIA Quadro M2000M GPU and a 32 GB Non-ECC RAM is placed in this device that
is quiet costly but compensates it by giving the best work performance. There
are slight delays sometimes when several heavy applications are run
simultaneously.
The Core i5 processor along with the other configurations
added to the laptop extends the working capability to 3.6 GHz.
PC Mark 8 tests were conducted primarily to judge the system
performance. Our trusty laptop proved fit for its task.
Because of the latest trend of heavy configurability, Dell
Precision offers 14 solid-state drives, some being SATA while others being
M.2/PCle and three hard drives that one can opt for when choosing to build
Precision. Maintenance of such a device has now become easy as there is direct
access to the wires that run underneath the keypad.
A stress test was also performed that judged the performance
of CPU and GPU when loads was given. During the test the device did not exceed
over 81 degrees in case of CPU and up to 78 degrees in case of GPU, like it
normally would.
Dual fans equipped in this device manage the heat
efficiently with average noise levels while staying idle was 29.8 dB as
compared to environmental noise measurements that was of 28.2 db. The noise
production however increased after an hour, that being moderately high, up to
37.2 db.
The Precision 7510 has bottom mounted speakers that can fill
a large room easily. This concludes that this device has powerful speakers like
its powerful microprocessors.
Having a bright 4k display, efficiently running
microprocessors costs a lot of battery. This device sucks electricity to keep
it running. However the battery timing is up to 4 hours and 28 minutes.
“In spite of its imperfections, the Precision 7510 just
may prove to suffer the most practical and least debilitating sacrifices of the
recent mobile workstations in its class that PakLap has evaluated.”
