The Difference Between Local and International Laptop Warranty

Most people fail to understand the differences that exist between local and international warranties on laptops and other electronic items. Believe it or not, but there’s literally a world of differences between the two. Here’s a look into a few elements that differentiate local warranties and international ones:

Details of local warranties
On the whole, there are two different types of local warranties. The first is a warranty with manufacturer’s authorized card, whereas the other is a warranty with the vendors warranty card. For the first, in case a problem arises with your machine, there will an address given on the warranty card. When you go to the given address, they will cover the repairs and fix your laptop. In most cases, this particular warranty is offered free of cost, but in general, electronics offering such a cover are usually high priced too.

When it comes to the second type of local warranty, these are generally offered over laptops that are imported from other regions of the world, such as the Middle East. This local warranty is actually offered by the vendors that import the said laptops. In most cases, any repairs or fixes required in the first year are offered for free. In terms of price, such laptops generally cost a bit less.

Details of international warranties
International warranties are typically offered on laptops and other electronics that are imported from other parts of the world. When local vendors do not wish to take on the responsibility of handling warranties, they start selling these products under their original international warranties. In case something goes wrong with your laptop under this warranty, it will be necessary for you to spend a good deal of money to send out your laptop and have it fixed straight by the manufacturer. In case you cannot do this, you will have to go to the local vendor that you purchased it from and request them to send it to the manufacturer on your behalf to get it fixed. To claim this warranty, the laptop will have to be sent out of the country and this can cost approximately 6000 PKR. Apart from the time that it will take to have your laptop fixed, the amount of time it will take for it to be sent out and then brought back after repairs can get rather frustrating. However, people, in most cases, end up preferring laptops with international warranties for the simple reason that such machines are typically cheaper than those that come with a local warranty.

All in all, it is highly recommended for you to purchase laptops and other electronics that come with a local warranty for the ease that these have to offer. There will be no need for you to worry about having your laptop sent out of the country. Yes, the laptop may cost you a bit more, but the fact is that you wouldn’t have to stress out in case something goes wrong and you need to have it covered under the warranty.
